Florida is done, and I made it back home. I am so grateful for the time I had there, and ready for two weeks off from RYM. God is good.
I sat still, the ocean waves crashing not turbulently but not softly on the shore, the huge lightning bolts striking in huge cumulonimbus clouds, the wind in my face, the interns, my friends, taking photos with little Kodak Flash cameras and laughing and talking. The culmination of RYM Florida. God's power and presence on full display. He is the one who orchestrated that scene for me, that I might know his power and feel his presence.
There were so many good things this week. The best came at the end. I love my family and am glad to see them again.
Small means something different this week. Rather than something mundane, minute, or ordinary, it is something quite miraculous that came in a small package. This week, I took pictures for Joey and Dre at RYM. This picture celebrates Eleanor and Amelia's five months out of the womb. The twins came out three months early and are now healthy and so cute. I am thankful to have met them and been able to capture their smiles. In one of my favorite hymns, "Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken," I am reminded to "Think what Father's smiles are thine." As I see the smiles of these sweet babies, I think about The Father's smiles that are theirs.
This week, I was struck by Romans 12:21. Though some say fight fire with fire, God says, "Do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good."
It is time to rest. It is time for family and friends. It is time to be still. Maybe it is time to learn the Hebrew alphabet...
